The
Lowcountry USTA Jr. Team Tennis League is designed for boys and girls ages 8 to
18. Teams play on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 p.m. Teams are broken down
into 10 & under, 12 & under, 14 & under, and 18 & under age groups
and compete in six week seasons held in the Fall. Teams are also leveled by ability
and previous success. The Lowcountry USTA Jr. Team Tennis League teams
are scheduled out of facilities within the tri-county Charleston area and may
be organized from subdivisions or community swim and tennis facilities; public
parks or tennis facilities; and, private country clubs or tennis clubs.
Coach/Captains, typically the parent of one of the team members, organize the
eight (8) or more players. The $35 seasonal membership fee and the required USTA
membership may be made online during player registration on the USTA TennisLink
Website by each parent. Details for each of these steps can be found
in the Coach/Captain's Packet, which can obtained by attending a Coach/Captain's
Informational meeting or by clicking on the menu bar selection Jr. Handbook..
Junior League matches consist of 8 game pro sets, with no-ad scoring, and
a 12-point tiebreaker is played when the match reaches 7 all to decide the winner.
All scores and points are recorded through the USTA TennisLink system. Division
winners are decided on the basis of the total percentage of points won to total
matches scheduled to be played. The ultimate responsibility for the league
lies with the Lowcountry USTA Junior Team Tennis Program Coordinator.
